Some rooms freezing, others boiling
Uneven heat usually means the system is unbalanced — incorrect lockshield settings, undersized radiators, or sludge starving the far end of the loop. We diagnose the cause, not the symptom.

Black sludge & cold spots in radiators
Magnetite build-up reduces flow, kills efficiency, and eventually wrecks pumps and heat exchangers. A power flush plus a magnetic filter restores the system to like-new performance.

New extension that the heating can't cope with
Adding rooms without resizing the system means everything underperforms. We recalculate the heat-loss properly and upsize boiler, pump, or pipework where needed.

Anatomy
Eight components.
One job each.
A healthy central heating system is a chain — and the chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Here's what every part actually does, and why every one of them matters.
Boiler
Heat generation. Sized to your home's actual demand — not the size of the old one.
Pump
Moves water through the system. Modern grade-A pumps run at a fraction of the wattage of old ones.
Expansion vessel
Absorbs pressure changes as water heats and cools. Should be re-pressurised every 2–3 years.
Magnetic filter
Catches sludge before it reaches the boiler. Standard install for us — extends warranty validity.
Radiators
Heat delivery. Sized per-room based on heat loss — not just "looks about right".
TRVs & lockshields
Per-room temperature control and system balancing. The cheapest efficiency upgrade you can make.
Smart thermostat
Schedule, geofencing, holiday mode. Pays for itself within 18 months in most homes.
Zone valves
Separate upstairs / downstairs control on system and regular boilers. Real savings on bedroom-only schedules.
The Unsexy Procedure That Saves Systems
What a proper power flush looks like.
Half the "power flushes" we see were just the system being drained, refilled and inhibitor added. That's not a flush. Here's the real procedure — radiator-by-radiator, pumped, chemical, certified.
Test the system
Magnet test on the return pipe, infrared scan of every radiator, water sample analysis. We confirm the flush is actually needed before quoting.
Connect the rig
High-flow pumped flushing rig with chemical agitator and corrosion inhibitor. Pressurised, not gravity-fed — that's what makes the difference.
Flush radiator-by-radiator
Every rad isolated and flushed individually. Sludge is broken down chemically then pumped out, not just stirred up to settle elsewhere.
Add inhibitor & filter
Fresh corrosion inhibitor, magnetic filter fitted on the return. We hand you a flush certificate that protects warranty claims.

Site survey
On-site visit to measure rooms, check existing pipework, age of radiators, boiler position and gas supply. Photos taken, notes made — proper data, not a glance.

Heat-loss calc & design
Room-by-room heat-loss calculation. Radiator schedule sized to actual demand. Pipe sizing checked. Written quote with full spec inside 48 hours.

Installation
Floors and carpets protected. Old system drained, new components installed cleanly. Most full-house jobs done in 2–4 days depending on scope.

Balance & commission
Lockshields set, TRVs configured, smart controls paired. We don't leave until every radiator is hitting its design temperature.

Handover
Full walk-through of the system, smart-thermostat setup, all certificates and warranty registration. One-week follow-up to confirm everything is running properly.
